In this illustration, I wanted to make something featuring a dragon egg. I drew the egg first, and added the details slowly after, building the scene step by step. I considered adding another dragon, but I decided against it, and wanted the one dragon to look longingly to the moon, perhaps calling the partner over. The dragon looks very sad, even though it is soon to be parent of the egg. I used both solid and transparent brushes in this piece, which builds up contrasting effects efficiently. I wanted it to be a solemn and sad piece, which is why I decided against adding stars or other light sources.
