I asked my close friend and junior game developer if she had any ideas for a witch in the Philbert universe, and she suggested basing it on the new pokemon Hatterene from the Pokemon Sword and Shield-series, seen on the right. She has a very pastel look, while being a Psychic Fairy-type. I won't go into detail on the Pokemon types, but they're slight opposites, so ofcourse I make this witch a total opposite of herself.

She has two forms we can see here, the dawn version and the dusk version. I am not sure if shes a good person or not yet... Hard to say. But I like her design. She has a very godess kind of vibe to her, so I do imagine she's someone important..

Perhaps one of the members in the council. Isn't plot fun??

Below you can see my process. I drew the pose very loosely and then started to ink. I started on the flowing skirt and went from there, by drawing the clothes first and the person underneath after. The staff was the very last I did. As you can see, I changed the design a lot, but I love the staff I ended up with. I also really like her masquerade mask, who knows what shes hiding under there?

It was by a "happy accident", as Bob Ross says, that I discovered it looked really good in dark colours. I was just colouring in the white on the dress, which can be tricky against a white background, so I temporarily made it darker to line it better. However, the dark blue I accidentaly picked ended up looking too good with the gold, so I had to incorporate it. I needed to keep both versions. It's kind of funny, I see the dark version as being more windy, but my friend said she thought the light version looked windier. In the end, the lines are pretty much the same on both images, I've just changed the colours and shadows and effects.

I did know I wanted the dress to be white and gold as soon as I started drawing that iconic skirt, but I can't deny that the colours resemble She-ra's, whom I've mentioned to many times on this blog. However the colours on my unnamed witch are a bit more toned down than the legendary princess of power. Can't compete with that!
