I originally posted this on this page, but I copied it here to make sure there are no misunderstandings, as the retrieval plan says there should be a blog post describing this.
Looking back on the first week:
I set myself the goal to make 2 illustrations, but I made 4. Of course, week one was a bit longer than 7 days, and I am counting the piece I made on the 29th of November.
I set myself the goal to write 2 reflective posts, and that's exactly what I did. I didn't write reflective posts on the other two illustrations because there was too little to reflect back on in those pieces, and I wouldn't be able to ask the reflective questions I should be.
I did write and edit on my research paper, but I am not sure what degree exactly. I would say just enough, but I could have prioritised this more. I have done some research in the background, however, and am still trying to find that pop I need. I also wrote 2 research posts, even though that was not on the plan. This opens up some more time for me next week to write more on my paper.
Looking back on the second week:
I set myself to create one illustration, and I did that. I only wrote one reflective post, however I wrote a lot more on my research paper. I have decided to change my research paper, and have asked Jonathan about his thoughts on this, but haven't heard back yet. So I'll go for it in the meanwhile. I wrote one research focused blog posts. I did write two last week though, so I don't feel too behind.
Looking back on the third week:
I created 2 Philbert illustrations, 1 research post and 2 reflective post. I have now completed doing the research focused posts, illustrations and reflective posts, but I will probably do more than minimum. I did focus on doing things a little bit quicker than my plan, as I am using a lot of the 4th week to celebrate christmas. I have also written a lot on my research paper, and it isn't too far from finished. I think it is coming together nicely.
Looking back on the fourth and fifth week:
On the fourth week, a lot happened outside of the retrieval period. I had gotten a lot of work from Gyldendal that was due 2nd of January. Of course I priorotized the retrieval period, but I wanted to be able to do both. There were ofcourse also a lot of family related dinners and parties, and I attended a few of them to celebrate the holidays. Overall, I had done a lot of work beforehand, more than what I originally planned, so I could get through this week. I focused on my paper, and finished it. I also recorded my voice over a few days for my mid year review video, and published it on youtube when it was finished. This took me maybe two or three days to create, but I worked on it over the two weeks. I like to give myself time to think about the work before I do it, and can see that it helps my progress. I also wrote one research post. I have done all the work I was asked to do, and I did one extra research post because I felt they perhaps were not as strong as my other work, and I wanted to balance it out. I wish I did more than the minimum, but mixed with holidays, gyldendal work and this, I didn't find the time. I did follow the plan as I got everything done in time, but I wanted to do more than the plan.
Overall
I will say I followed the plan, though I can see some may see I did too much work, and did not follow my plan. I planned to work more spread out, but instead worked faster and did more work on the first weeks. In the end, this paid off, as I suddenly got unexpected work from Gyldendal, with a short deadline, but technically it was not in the plan. I am glad I did more than originally planned the first few weeks, so I could juggle my passion for work and my passion for studying together.
